A Comfort Food Classic — Alpha-gal Style
Hot dog chili is one of those nostalgic comfort foods that can make you think of summer cookouts or ball games, but when you have Alpha-gal Syndrome, traditional recipes made with ground beef and hot dogs are no longer an option.
This version is inspired by Jeff’s Hot Dog Chili, a tried-and-true favorite in my family, but adapted to be Alpha-gal safe. I’ve swapped out the beef for lean ground turkey, used carefully selected seasonings and condiments, and served it in a way that is safe for me – over crispy homemade steak fries!
Topped with a creamy vegan cheese sauce and fresh sliced green onions, this dish gives you all the flavors of chili cheese fries with none of the red meat or hidden mammal ingredients.
Even though I can’t enjoy traditional hot dogs anymore, this recipe brings back that same comfort food feeling, safely and deliciously. Whether you’re newly diagnosed with Alpha-gal or just looking for a lighter chili option, this turkey-based version is sure to hit the spot!
